County Courts are seeking a full-time Bailiff / Probation Officer to travel between Clyde and Woodville Courts. Minimum qualifications include: High school graduate with at least a four-year degree in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice, plus one and a half years experience in Social Work and / or Criminal Justice field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience. Must have the physical ability to perform tasks of the job in securing, transporting of offenders, or probation violators, and be physically able to provide security for the court. Must have exceptional communication skills to work with people who are under great stress and be able to diffuse potentially hostile situations. Must have writing skills, computer competency and typing skills. Must be able to present yourself well in front of large numbers of people. Must have the ability to prioritize assignments and manage a large caseload of 450 + active probationers within this geographical area. Must be a self-starter capable of working with little or no supervision. Willingness to participate in continuing education and maintain the confidentiality of the courts. Work duties include but are not limited to: Under the direction of the administrative judge, must have, reasonable knowledge of the criminal court and its operation; maintain security at all times during court to assure that the judge, court personnel, and any persons visiting the courts are safe. Responsible for the security of the courthouse and have the ability to recognize any unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action. Will conduct all phases of court including swearing in witnesses, swearing in the jury; organize cases in order to ensure smooth operation of daily court activities. Required to immediately effectuate the judge's orders on vehicle impounds and / or immobilizations and maintain record of such. May be required to serve writs and orchestrate smooth transitions of property back to the owner(s). Will be required to; assist the court in fact finding and write recommendations pertaining to any civil or criminal matter as directed by the judge; locate persons who cannot be located by the clerk's office. Manage a large caseload of probationers; communicate well and have knowledge of local services. Required to gather concise information and write biographies of offenders and include a sentencing recommendation. Provide contact with offenders through face-to-face contacts in the office or at the offender's home; obtain samples of breath or urine for the detection of illegal substances and make the appropriate recommendation for increased sanctions, or immediate arrest. Maintain annual firearm qualifications and maintain record of same. Work duties will be performed on Monday and Wednesday at Sandusky County Court #2, Woodville, and on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at Sandusky County Court #1, Clyde.


Sandusky County Juvenile Court is accepting applications for a Full-Time Deputy Clerk.  *Please Note: This Position will primarily be assigned to handle cases related to Child Abuse, Neglect & Dependency Cases involving the Sandusky County Department of Job & Family Services. Minimum qualifications include: High School graduate or equivalent. Experience in court procedures or legal secretarial experience strongly preferred. Excellent communications, organizational, computer and clerical skills all required. MUST have the ability to effectively serve and communicate with co-workers and various outside personnel in a consistently friendly manner. Must be able to follow detailed directions and be multi-task oriented. Work duties include: Receives and prepares various legal documents and processes filings; dockets cases; prepares journal entries regarding cases and reviews cases for procedural compliance; prepares correspondence and notices and sends as directed; receives payments; issues and posts receipts, applies costs; answers telephones and public inquiries; operates general office machines. Starting wage range is $9.50 - $10.50 per hour, plus all standard County Benefits. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is seeking a full-time Paramedic. An example of minimal acceptable qualifications include: Completion of secondary education with training and experience as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic or equivalent combination. Applicant must pass a successful background check. Must have State of Ohio vehicle operator's license with an acceptable driving record; State of Ohio EMT-Paramedic Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (American Heart Association), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification. Work duties include but are not limited to:  Provides emergency medical assistance and advanced life support in conjunction with an M.D., D.O., or physician advisory board; starts I.V.'s; maintains patient's breathing by intubation; administers medications; operates advanced life support equipment; assesses vital signs; controls bleeding; assists childbirth; immobilizes fractures; communicates with patients, families and other emergency personnel to conduct rescue operations; maintains radio communications with hospitals; transports patients to medical facilities; prepares and submits reports and records of treatment, nature of problem and patient identification to hospital personnel. Tests and maintains advanced life support equipment and instruments for proper operation; inventories and restocks drugs and medical supplies; maintains inventory of medical supplies and medications; inspects, cleans and performs maintenance on ambulance; maintains station and grounds. Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center is accepting applications for Part-time Female Detention Officers.  Minimum qualifications include: Completion of secondary education with one (1) year training or experience working with young people in a controlled setting, youth services, criminal justice, or related field; prior experience in supervising youth is preferred; must successfully complete Juvenile Detention Officer 160-Hour orientation; must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment and ability to establish mature rapport with juveniles. Must have First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain them. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Work duties include but are not limited to: Detention functions; performs intake procedures (e.g., prepares paperwork, gives showers, marks clothes, secures money and personal items, places in cell, etc.); operate and monitor electronic security equipment, supervises lock-ups; observes visitation; observes recreation activities; performs inspections; secures and locks doors; conducts programming for and otherwise interacts with residents. Performs related service functions, maintains facility, equipment and supplies. Performs clerical functions. Salary $10.73 per hour. Juvenile Detention Center is seeking part-time Male Detention  Officers. AN EXAMPLE OF MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATION: Completion of secondary education with one (1) year training or experience working with young people in a controlled setting, youth services, criminal justice, or related field; prior experience in supervising youth is preferred; must successfully complete Juvenile Detention Officer 160-Hour orientation; must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment and ability to establish mature rapport with juveniles. Two methods are used for posting open positions:

Internal Postings are posted strategically in different offices around the County. The internal posting is for current employees use only.

External Postings are advertised in the Fremont News Messenger and occasionally in the Toledo Blade, Sandusky Register, Advertiser Tribune, and the Bellevue Gazette. All external positions advertised by the Human Resource Office are identifiable as each advertisement starts out with a Bold Header stating COUNTY OF SANDUSKY.

If an individual wishes to apply for a posted position, he or she must submit a  a completed application and to the Sandusky County Human Resource Office by the deadline as written in the posting. An applicant can either download an application from this site, or he or she can visit the H.R. Office at 622 Croghan St. Fremont, Ohio during the specified business hours.
